NSW; 99 charges after police target crime on trains

A police crackdown on crimes committed on trains has resulted in almost 100 charges
in New South Wales in two weeks.

Police say Operation Transit Saturation Two, which ended last night, targeted anti-social
behaviour, drug possession and the disruption of comfort of train passengers.

It covered the entire electric rail network from Sydney north to Newcastle, south to
Wollongong and out to the regional centres of Goulburn and Lithgow.

Senior Sergeant PAUL WHYTE, from the Transport Policy Unit, said police will continue
to liaise with State Rail to crackdown on anti-social behaviour on the rail network.

Police say the operation resulted in 99 charges, and the issuing of 1,355 infringement
notices and 235 cautions.
